​Primary and Professional classes remain the same as per 2023/24 UK Season regulations.
The F1 in Schools competition is split into 4 classes spanning Primary and Secondary education, Primary Class (9-11), Entry Class (11-14), Development Class (11-19) and Professional Class (11-19). All classes are judged on the day of one of our Regional Finals. A school is allowed to enter a maximum of 5 teams which can be a mixture of classes in the secondary competition. Teams may only compete for 1 year in both the Entry and Development Classes, 2 years in Primary Class, but can return as many times as they like as a Professional Class team.

PRIMARY (9-11) Competition

PRIMARY CLASS (£10 - 9-11 Age Group | KS2 ideal introduction to the competition)
Starting with our folded card chassis, Primary Class starts by introducing teams to a competition focussing on the basics of aerodynamic design and teamwork. By starting with Primary Class, you have given yourself the best possible chance of growing through the ranks to become one of the UK’s top teams and ultimately fighting for a chance to reach our world finals, which is contested by over 50 countries!

SECONDARY (11-19) Competition

Our supplementary guide to Professional Project Management Techniques, written in partnership with Project Management Institute Educational Foundation (PMIEF). Suitable for Development and Professional Class teams, to help give your students industry-level terminology and techniques.
ENTRY CLASS (£25+VAT - 11-14 Age Group | perfect KS3 project)
Introducing the use of resistant materials and the option to use CNC equipment, Entry Class is the perfect first step on your F1 in Schools journey. Aimed at new team or schools taking part in the challenge for the first time, Entry Class allows all teams to compete for the honour of being crowned Regional Champions, who will be invited to attend the National final as VIP guests.

DEVELOPMENT CLASS (£100+VAT - 11-19 Age Group | engaging KS3/KS4 project)
Focussing further on CAD/CAM and Enterprise, this is the next step up from Entry Class and a great way to prepare for Professional Class. You will take on more judging categories and have more technical regulations to contend with when designing your car. Teams choosing to enter the Development Class will be competing for the chance to become the Development Class UK National Champions, which will win them a place to represent the UK at the World Finals.

PROFESSIONAL CLASS (£100+VAT - 11-19 Age Group | rewarding KS4/KS5 project)
This is the top tier of the UK competition and is ideally suited to KS4 teams, who have the opportunity to make a real case for themselves in front of potential employers at our events. Pro Class is all about developing and fine-tuning, but we also encourage ambition - so you can enter straight away at the age of 11 if you fancy the challenge! Regional winners in the Professional Class teams fight it out at the UK National Finals for a place at the star-studded World Finals.
