We have included an outline Marking Criteria that the judges will be using to judge your work to help you concentrate your efforts towards gaining the top marks!!!
Design Portfolio
LOW: 1-10 - Initial ideas through to design development, testing and evaluation. Limited ideas, developed one idea, minimal testing and review of the brief and specifications.
MEDIUM: 11-20 - Initial ideas through to design development, testing and evaluation. Team presents a range of ideas. Developing and modelling some of those ideas. Some evidence of testing. Evaluation at key points in the design process.
HIGH: 21-30 - Initial ideas through to design development, testing and evaluation. Presents a range of ideas from all team members and developed several ideas and models. Evaluation of all aspects of the design process, throughout the design portfolio.
Team Design for F1 Car
LOW: 1-10 - Finished product and team graphic identity. Simple idea with limited graphic identity.
MEDIUM: 11-20 - Finished product and team graphic identity. Realistic design with adequate graphic identity, featuring in other areas of the teams work.
HIGH: 21-30 - Finished product and team graphic identity. Realistic and imaginative idea with a strong graphic identity, featuring in all aspects of the teams work.
Use of CAD and ICT
LOW: 1-10 - Use of each application, quality of work produced. Graphic technique. Presents sufficient information and satisfies the entry requirements. Limited use of ICT in other areas of the teams work. Adequate use of CAD/CAM, showing process of design through to manufacture.
MEDIUM: 11-20 - Use of each application, quality of work produced. Graphic technique. Presents information in an organised, clear coherent manner, uses ICT appropriately and satisfies the entry requirements. Good use of CAD/CAM showing a detailed step by step process from design through to manufature.
HIGH: 21-30 - Use of each application, quality of work produced. Graphic technique. Presents information in a well organised and logical manner. Used ICT appropriately and skilfully and satisfies the entry requirements. Excellent use of CAD as above, showing an excellent understanding of CAD/CAM.
Quality of Manufacture
LOW: 1-10 - Use of materials and equipment. Making products in quantity. Key FeaturesPoints Awarded Final car design is similar to original design proposal (final 3D rendering), symmetrical in form and reasonable quality finish on the car body. Two cars which look the same (National Final Only - One car required for a regional final).
MEDIUM: 11-20 - Use of materials and equipment. Making products in quantity. Final car design matches the original design proposal (final 3D rendering), symmetrical in form and good quality finish on the car body and graphics. Two cars that look identical (National Final Only - One car required for a regional final). .
HIGH: 21-40 - Use of materials and equipment. Making products in quantity. High quality final car design, identical to proposed design, symmetrical in form and excellent finish on the car body and graphics. Two cars that are identical in every detail (National Final Only - One car required for a regional final). .
Verbal Presentation (Quality of presentation & Team work)
LOW: 1-10 - Use of visual aids. Informative presentation covering some aspects of the design process and how the team organised themselves. Some members of the team spoke in an enthusiastic way and gave an interesting presentation. Some use of visual aids.
MEDIUM: 11-20 - Use of visual aids. Very informative presentation covering most aspects of the design process and how the team organised themselves. Most members of the team spoke with enthusiasm and gave a very interesting presentation. Used different visual aids.
HIGH: 21-30 - Use of visual aids. Very informative, concise presentation covering all aspects of the design process and how the team organised themselves. All members of the team took a turn to speak, they enthused about their achievements and gave an excellent presentation. Used visual aids in an imaginative way.
Specification
Each specification MUST be checked individually. D-Type teams will start with 20 points, R-Type with 36. For each failed specification one point will be deducted. The R-Type specification will then be scalled to give a mark out of 20.

Time Trials (Fastest Time - from all races).
LOW: 1-26 - Points awarded for position in time trials.
MEDIUM: 27-52 - Points awarded for position in time trials.
HIGH: 52-80 - Points awarded for position in time trials.
Reactions Times (Race Time & Reaction Time)
LOW: 1-6 - Points awarded for position in time trials.
MEDIUM: 7-12 - Points awarded for position in time trials.
HIGH: 13-20 - Points awarded for position in time trials.
