History
- 1999 F1 in Schools piloted in the UK
- 2000 Debut as a national competition
- 2001 6 regional rounds take place in UK, culminating in the first UK National Championships
- 2002 F1 in Schools is franchised internationally across four countries. UK competition expands to cover 10 regions.
- 2003 International competition expands to cover 11 countries.
- 2004 Debut World Championships take place at Jaguar, Castle Bromwich, UK, won by Team Turbo, Bloomsburg High School, Pennsylvania, USA.
- 2005 Bernie Ecclestone, Chief Executive of The Formula One Group, grants F1 in Schools rights to trademark protected logo and donates the Bernie Ecclestone Trophy for the World Champions. James Allen (ITV), Ross Brawn (Ferrari), Sam Michael (Williams), Pat Symonds (Renault), Mike Gascoyne (Spyker), Geoff Willis (Honda) become patrons. International competition expands to cover 18 countries.
- 2006 Second World Championships, Autosport International, NEC, Birmingham, won by The Stingers, Trinity Grammar, Melbourne, Australia. ITV (UK) cover one-off Honda vs Ferrari vs Students shoot-out at the Indianapolis Grand Prix.
- 2007 International competition expands to cover 22 countries. Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer, Red Bull Technology, joins as patron. Third World Championships, Melbourne, Australia, won by Team FUGA, ColeraineAcademical Institution, Northern Ireland.
- 2008 Forth World Championship, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Won by Team Pulse from England. F1 in Schools sees expansion into Spain and the Middle East. Now in 29 countries.
- 2009 Fifth World Championship, London, UK. New World Champions the Koni Kats from St. David's Secondary School, Ireland. F1 in Schools expands into Nigeria, now in 30 countries.
