'Formula Extreme' win in Northern Ireland

The aspiring F1 engineers, created a miniature Formula One car, which they raced along a 20 metre track against competitors from across the region. The Formula Extreme team for the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge consisted of Meghan McMullan, Craig Henry, Scott Horner, Daniel Jamieson, Jordanne Kane and Claire Kennedy.
Also joining Team Formula Extreme at the National Finals are ‘Team DNA’ from
Formula One, with its headline-hitting excitement, controversy, glitz and glamour, has been the catalyst to introduce thousands of students to the world of engineering and open their eyes to the opportunities that the industry offers. It is an industry that is sorely lacking new talent, from product designers to mechanical engineers and many other key skills. The Formula One in Schools Technology Challenge is proving that engineering can be an attractive proposition for students, presenting the discipline in an engaging, relevant and appealing competitive environment. Now in its eighth year, the multi-disciplined F1 in Schools Challenge has attracted growing numbers of students, with schools recognising its value in encouraging the study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
