Fresh from their recent victory at the F1 in Schools World Championship the Koni Kats were given a hero's welcome at the Irish Computer Society (ICS) Winter Members Evening, held at the Science Gallery on 9th December.  The evening was attended by family and friends of Team Koni Kats, members and board of the Irish Computer Society and well known industry professionals, including Andrew Denford and Willie McKeown to celebrate and raise a glass to this outstanding victory of the young champions.

Fintan Swanton, President of the Irish Computer Society and Michael O'Connor, Chairman of ICS Skills Board made a presentation to the team members and their teachers, to honour all the hard work and dedication on their journey becoming World Champions.  Peter Sheridan and Chris Horn from Engineers Ireland also spoke and presented the team and their teachers with awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

Jim Friars, CEO of the Irish Computer Society said about the efforts of the team and their teachers, “Team Koni Kats success with the extraordinary help of their teachers, Tom Reynolds and Triona Brosnan, shows that our young people are bright and capable ambassadors of scientific and entrepreneurial endeavours. The F1 in Schools Challenge encourages the uptake of programmes in science, technology and engineering that will drive growth in these key sectors of the knowledge economy at this crucial stage in Irish history.  The four team members, Conor, Eoin, Seán and Adam should be very proud for what they have achieved as ambassadors for their families, school, community and indeed the country.
