TWO ODIHAM SCHOOL TEAMS REACH THE NATIONAL FINALS
Robert Mays School celebrated winning four awards in the London and South East England Regional Finals held at City University London, taking the London and South East titles in both the Formula 1 and the Bloodhound classes.
Rush, the Formula 1 category team from the school, claimed the Best Team Identity award as well as winning the Formula 1 class overall. The sister team, Adrenaline, recorded the fastest race time in the Bloodhound category to take the Fastest Bloodhound Class Car award with a time of 0.572 seconds. Tectonic Racing, from Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith, London W6, were the Best Rookie Team to join Rush and Adrenaline at the UK National Finals.
The London and South East regional final was hotly contested with seven teams winning the ten awards, representing five different schools. The winning rookie team, Tectonic Racing, also won the Perseverance in adversity award. The Best Engineered Car award was won by Speeding Snails from Wilmington Grammar School, Dartford and another team from the school, Red Shift, taking the Fastest Formula 1 class car award, racing down the track at 1.189 seconds. The Innovative Thinking Award was collected by Team Ignite from dame Alice Owens School, Potters Bar and the Best Sponsorship & Marketing award was presented to QE-Lectric from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Faversham, Kent.
