Winning young engineers from all over the world will compete for the ultimate title of International Champions at the International Final of the F1 in Schools CAD/CAM Design Challenge on 5th October.

They have already successfully competed in National Finals in their home countries and now face the International competition and Judges from 13 countries including Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Korea, Portugal, South Africa, Thailand, UAE, USA, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

As well as racing their model car, teams will be judged on safety, aerodynamics, aesthetics, engineering, quality and accuracy of manufacture, race times and presentation skills. All judges are from industry or education, representing the sponsors and partners of the Challenge from each country. These 'real-life' engineers give the students a true professional perspective on their finished designs.

Each country has run their own National Championship over the past year where over 3,000 teams took part worldwide. The 13 National winning teams have now been invited to take part in the UK based International Final, to be held at the home of the Jaguar S-TYPE in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham.

Andrew Denford, F1 in Schools Founder and Chairman said

"After 4 Championship Seasons in the UK and the increasing number of countries taking part in this challenge world-wide, it is fantastic to see the students come to compete in the UK. We are very much looking forward to seeing all the teams and their car designs"

Mike Beasley CBE, Patron of F1 in Schools, enthused

"The Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for young people to experience the excitement of the engineering industry, it really helps students to make an informed choice about their future."

The International Overall Winners will receive a large chrome Jaguar Leaper Trophy to take back to their schools and individual prizes courtesy of Jaguar for all winning team members.
