TITAN, Element 6 and Triple H were the three teams winning through to the National Finals at the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Finals, held at Tata Steel, Scunthorpe.
The TITAN team with team members Usman Iqbal, Ali Javed, Maciej Laszkowski and Leonardo Gonzalez proved that hard work pays off when they won the F1 Class, Fastest F1 car Award and Best Engineered Car Award at the Yorkshire and Humberside F1 in Schools Regional Final, booking their place at the National Finals which take place at the Big Bang Science Fair at NEC, Birmingham in March.
Leonardo Gonzalez said of winning through to the F1 in Schools National Finals, “Everyone has worked as hard.as they could. I think we could improve the presentation of our car and speed is going to be a factor, so it will be interesting to see what ideas we can come up with for the national finals.”
Element 6 with team members Nathan Livett, Kieran Nar, Christopher Unsworth, Benjamin Laszkowski, Anthony Hughes and Marriyah Siddique were Runners up in the F1 Class and also won the Team Identity Award, also winning a place at the National Finals. Team Manager, Kieran Nar, said afterwards, “Today was a good experience, we've learned a lot, had some fun and best of all, got through to the national finals which is what we set out to do. it's different to what we thought it would be - when you prepare for it, you never appreciate how tense, how thrilling and how enjoyable it will be.”
Triple H, with Business and Sponsorship Manager,Hamidur Chowdhury and team mates Hannan Shafique and Haseeb Hussain won the Research and Development Award and Best F1 Rookie team to claim a place at the F1 in Schools National Finals.
Hamidur Chowdhury said of the event, “I'm over the moon. All the hard work has paid off. In the national finals we'd like to use the time more effectively and make the car faster, and we'd like to improve our marketing skills.”
