Rookie team claims fastest F1 car Class Award

Salendine Nook High School, Huddersfield won the Formula 1 Class in the

Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Finals held at TATA Steel, Scunthorpe, but it was Go TVA from Trent Valley Academy, Gainsborough, who impressed everyone at the Final This team won the Best Rookie Team Award, and stunned the competition by also taking the Fastest Formula 1 Class Car award in their first year of competing in F1 in Schools, with their model F1 car racing down the special track with a time of 1.263 seconds. 'Kinetic' and 'Go TVA' will be joined at the National Finals by the winning Bloodhound Class team, Racin' Strips from Ridgewood School, Doncaster.

Other winners at the Yorkshire and Humberside regional final were Fast & Furious from Castleford Academy, Castleford who took the Fastest Bloodhound Class Award, racing to victory in a time of 0.795 seconds. 5 Star from Winterton Comprehensive School won the Best Engineered Car Award, St. Chads tigers from St. Chads CE Primary School, collected the Best Team Identity Award and Hyperactive from Stokesley School won the Innovative Thinking Award. Top Chicks from Barnsley Academy collected the Best Sponsorship and Marketing Award, and sister team from the school, Mercury F1, Phoenix were presented with the Perseverance in adversity Award.
