Nine different winners at North East Regional Finals

Nine teams collected awards at the North East Regional finals, with St.Bedes Catholic Comprehensive School taking the biggest haul of trophies with three awards, but Emmanual College, George Stephenson High School and Whitburn Church of England Academy taking the titles which booked them places in the National Finals.

Emmanuel College, Gateshead, celebrated winning two awards, taking the North East Region title in the Formula 1 class and winning Fastest F1 Car Award. Red Kite Racing, the team from Emmanuel College, will be joined at the National Finals by the winning Bloodhound Class team, Volitorial from George Stephenson High School, Newcastle. The Best Rookie Team, Zenith Racing from Whitburn Church of England Academy, Sunderland, will also compete for the UK National Title.

St. Bedes Catholic Comprehensive School celebrated when Evolved won the Fastest Bloodhound Class car award, Elite won the Best Engineered Car and Neon took the Innovative Thinking Award. Other winners at the North East regional final were Greenray Racing from Abingdon Primary School who won the Best Team Identity, Chameleon Racer from The Hermitage School, Chester-le-Street, who took the Best Sponsorship and Marketing Award, and Blazing Hares Racing Team from Durham Johnston School, winners of the Perseverance in Adversity Award.
