Team Robus from Deans Community High School were nominated for the Innovative Thinking Award, at the 2014 F1 in Schools UK National Finalsut and these boys and girls have been invited to represent Scotland at the 2014 F1 in Schools World Finals to be held at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi in November. Rapid Input, a team of girls from Dunfermline High School also celebrated, winning the Judges Discretionary Award.

Robus from Deans Community High School, Livingston were runners up in the F1 Class and won the Team Sponsorship and Marketing Award at the Regional Final, but although they missed out on any awards at the National Finals, as the highest placed Scottish team they were delighted to secure a place at the World Finals.

The team comprising Callum Paterson, 16, Team Manager and Graphic Designer; Katie Shiell,16, Wheel Designer; Megan Donnelly, 16, Business Manager; Darren Lamb, 16, Designer and Engineer and Alexander Smith, 16, Designer and Engineer are looking forward to a trip to Abu Dhabi.

Callum said after the announcement, “We're really pleased to have been invited to go to the World Finals as the highest placed Scottish team. We're going to take a break from F1 in Schools for now while we do our exams and then and as soon as they are over we'll be working through the summer on the project, we'll be working flat out bringing everything up to scratch and hopefully we can do ourselves proud at the World finals. At the beginning F1 in Schools was just a challenge, but now, through everything we've gained from it, we realise it is so much more than that, it's just the start of something for all of us now.”
