F1 in Schools has close links with Williams F1 team through the newly launched Randstad Williams Engineering Academy, with the Academy students exclusively selected from the F1 in Schools community. F1 in Schools alumni have been touring the team factory, are now working for the team and promoting the team.

F1 in Schools alumni star on stage and screen

Seven of the 11 students chosen to join the Randstad Williams Engineering Academy, selected from applicants competing at the F1 in Schools World Finals 2015, attended the Autosport International Show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham to share their experience as Academy members.  The students joined Williams F1 Technical Director, Pat Symonds, on the Autosport stage at the Show, being interviewed in front of the visitors, before a second interview with Pat for a feature on the Sky Sports F1 channel.

F1 in Schools takes Kelly all the way to F1

F1 in Schools is very proud to see F1 in Schools alumni, Kelly Ashbridge, join Williams F1 team as the team’s Motorsport Junior Press Officer. Kelly found her love of Formula 1 when she took part in the challenge eleven years ago. After a spell working at F1 in Schools HQ, Kelly graduated with first class honours in Public Relations. She was snapped up by former F1 driver, Mark Blundell, to lead the PR for his boutique sports management agency and after a solid grounding, beat off strong opposition to land the Williams F1 PR role.

F1 in Schools teams go on tour…a Williams F1 factory tour

AIB Racing from Ireland and Pact Racing from Germany were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Williams factory in Grove, Oxfordshire.  Mark Wemyss-Holden, UK Project Manager, F1 in Schools, accompanied the teams and said of the visit, “Having the chance to see the inner workings of an F1 team is a privilege that all the students really appreciated. It was a great reward for all the hard work that the teams put in to F1 in Schools and shows how competing in it can take you places that you’d never believe possible.”
