As the Formula 1 winter testing comes to a close the testing for the Jaguar F1 Team in Schools Challenge is just beginning. Over 50 students representing schools from the Dorset area will be racing their model C02 powered cars in the first Dorset heat.
The event will be taking place at Blandford School, in Blandford Forum on Monday 7th March. This heat is one of many being run across the UK, launching the Jaguar F1 Team in Schools 2005-06 Season.
Each team has been working on their car and putting together a portfolio to impress the Judges for the last few weeks and now they get the chance to race for the first time this season.
Heather Hawthorne, Jaguar F1 Team in Schools National Project Director said, "Jaguar F1 Team in Schools is very proud to support these events whenever possible. It is always an encouragement to see heats taking place across the country, as it is a superb way of enthusing students about engineering as well as encouraging them to take part in the National Challenge."
The heat has been organised by Gerry Bishop of Flight Refuelling, Colin Eaton from Dorset LEA and the Head of Technology, Charles Ellis of Blandford School.
Prizes sponsored by Flight Re-Fueling are being awarded for the Fastest Car and 1st place in each age group for 11-14 year students and 14-16 year old students.
So why not organise a heat in your region and get your season off to a flying start!....As the Formula 1 winter testing comes to a close the testing for the Jaguar F1 Team in Schools Challenge is just beginning....
