Denford Ltd. and Land Rover (part of the same group as Jaguar) are launching a new educational competition this week. The competition is called 4x4 in Schools and is open to school students in Key Stage 4.

The Challenge involves designing and building an 'Off-Road' vehicle which can be driven around an obstacle course by a student via remote control. The vehicles use electric motors to power all four wheels and can climb at angles close to 45 degrees from the flat.

The course consists of steep gradients, rough surfaces, tight corners and pools of water. Each team must also produce a portfolio and make a verbal presentation to a group of judges. All of this adds up to a very competitive event. With the National launch taking place this week here at F1 in Schools we can't wait to see the teams designs.
