Rules and Regulations
F1 in Schools has three classes of cars to design. The D-Type, R-Type and our new Sports Car GT class. The Rules and Regulations for each class of entry are detailed below along with the Design Brief, the Marking Criteria and some helpful Design Considerations. There is also more helpful information on the F1 in Schools Resources page.
D-Type
The D-TYPE car or Dragster as its also known is the entry level class and open to our 11-14 and 14-16 age groups. This means that the 14-16 age group has the option of either competing in the D-Type or R-Type class.

R-Type
The R-TYPE car named after the R-Type Jaguar Formula One car is open to both the 14-16 & 16-18 year age group. The rules are similar to the D-TYPE however, the blank dimensions are different and the specification for this car presents different design and engineering challenges. Competing at the World Championships requires a team to design a R-Type car.
